Dear Helene:

A new Jewish resident camp is underway in San Diego.  We have two pieces of property under contract and we are very excited about moving ahead; one in Escondido and one in Idylwild. As we are in the formation stage we welcome all who are interested in helping.

Our intent is to provide a summer camping experience and an ongoing retreat facility.  We recognize that camp is positive pivotal experience for youth in the Jewish community.  By creating this camp, we are opening the door to youth, and adults, to share in this important experience.  It is our goal to offer to offer the summer camp program in the near future.  We hope to offer the retreat program sooner.  Youth and adults will be able to utilize the camp for Shabbatons and other retreats.  We are following in the tradition, which you taught to your madrichim students.

Please pass this message on to your email list.  If anyone would like more information, please contact us at

This comes from a Catholic elementary school. Kids were asked questions
about the Old and New Testaments. They have not been retouched or corrected
(i.e., incorrect spelling has been left in.) Enjoy! (Thanks Max)

In the first book of the bible, Guinessis, God got tired of creating the world, so he took the Sabbath off.

Adam and Eve were created from an apple tree. Noah's wife was called Joan of  Ark. Noah built an ark, which the animals come on to in pears.

Lot's wife was a pillar of salt by day, but a ball of fire by night.

The Jews were a proud people and throughout history they had trouble with the unsympathetic Genitals.

Samson was a strongman who let himself be led astray by a Jezebel like Delilah.

Moses led the hebrews to the Red Sea, where they made unleavened bread which is bread without any ingredients.

The Egyptians were all drowned in the dessert. Afterwards, Moses went up on  Mount Cyanide to get the ten ammendments.

The seventh commandment is thou shalt not admit adultery.

Moses died before he ever reached Canada. Then Joshua led the hebrews in the battle of Geritol.

David was a hebrew king skilled at playing the liar. he fought with the Finklesteins, a race of people who lived in Biblical times.

Solomon, one of David's sons, had 300 wives and 700 porcupines.

When Mary heard that she was the mother of Jesus, she sang the Magna Carta.

When the three wise guys from the east side arrived, they found Jesus in the manager.

Jesus was born because Mary had an immaculate contraption.

Jesus enunciated the Golden Rule, which says to do one to others before they do one to you. He also explained, "a man doth not live by sweat alone."

The people who followed the lord were called the 12 decibels. The epistles were the wives of the apostles.

One of the oppossums was St. Matthew who was also a taximan.

St. Paul cavorted to Christianity. He preached holy acrimony, which is another name for marriage.

Here is some exciting news about our new website.
Todah Rabah to the fabulous...Mr. Rick....

Good morning.

I have made some additional changes and improvements.  I think it is OK to tell everyone the location of the site at

http://www.madrichim.homestead.com

To respect people's privacy concerns, I put a password on the Roster page, so when you click on the button that says Roster, you will have to put in the password chai.  You should tell people that when you send out your e-mail.

I think you should continue sending your e-mail each week, and I will just post it after I receive it.

I have a lot of your old e-mails, and in my spare time I will continue to add those to the archives.  Then I will start putting the bios and comments from people on pages with their own name that you will see by clicking on their name on the roster.  (I set this up for Ali Adler and Greg Temkin so far, just as examples.)

I suggest you also encourage everyone to e-mail you with their dates they were in Madrichim, any family news or other information they would like posted, or suggestions for the website.  In the future, we might post photos, but I am not ready for that yet, and would want to give people instructions on what format to send them in first.

If you have a few pictures that you would like to share, I can handle that now.

I'm glad you like this, so let's see what the general reaction is.

Thanks.

Mr. Rick

More news follows:

Just thought I'd let you know I am expecting my second boy on March 15!!  Just wanted to add to all the exciting news!

Love,
Jill (Witte) Cayelli

Dear Eemah,
I am glad to be back too.  Thanks for the info. on Marc.  My thoughts are with his family.  What a special thing Marty and his wife are doing.  Sounds like your family is doing well.  Little one's are so special.  Just an aside we are all getting together next weekend to celebrate my grandmother's ( my dad's mother) 100th birthday.  My how time flies.
Lenie (Greenspan)

And....the following is very cute:
To those of us who have children in our lives, whether they are
our own, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, or whatever....here
is something to make you laugh. (Remember, this is a laugh!)

Whenever your children are out of control, you can take comfort
from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to
His own children. After creating heaven and earth, God created
Adam and Eve (his children).

The first thing he said was, "Don't!"
"Don't what?" Adam replied.
"Don't eat the forbidden fruit," God said.
"Forbidden fruit? We have forbidden fruit?
Hey, Eve. . . we have forbidden fruit!" "No way!" "Yes, way!"

"Do NOT eat the fruit!" said God.
"Why?"
"Because I am your Father and I said so!" God replied,
(wondering why he hadn't stopped creation after elephants).
A few minutes later, God saw His children having an apple break
and was He ticked!

"Didn't I tell you not to eat the fruit?" our first parent, God, asked.
"Uh huh," Adam replied.
"Then why did you?" said the Father.
"I don't know," said Eve.
"She started it!" Adam said,
"Did not!" "Did too!" "DID NOT!
Having had it with the two of them, God's punishment was that
Adam and Eve should have children of their own.

Thus, the pattern was set and it has never changed!
But there is assurance in this story.
If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children
wisdom and they haven't taken it, don't be hard on yourself.

If God had trouble raising children, what makes you think it
would be a piece of cake for you?

Advice for the day:
If you have a lot of tension and you get a headache, do what it
says on the aspirin bottle:
"Take two Aspirin" and "Keep away from children."

You spend the first 2 years of their life teaching them to walk
and talk. Then you spend the next 16 years telling them to sit
down and shut-up.
Grandchildren are God's reward to you for not killing your children.

The main purpose of holding children's parties is to remind
yourself that there are children more awful than your own.
We child proofed our home 3 years ago and they're still getting
in!

Be nice to your kids.
Someday, they'll choose your nursing home.
